AUSTRALIAN CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLER PROGRAM

THERE ARE THREE STAGES IN BECOMING A FULLY COMPLIANT “A-CAR” MEMBER i.e. an AUSTRALIAN CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLER:

  1. Stage 1 – by the end of Year 1 of your membership, being assessed as meeting the requirements of “I-CARE ENVIRONMENTAL” compliance;
  2. Stage 2 – by the end of Year 2 of your membership, being assessed as meeting the requirements of “A-CAR WORKPLACE HEALTH and SAFETY” compliance;
  3. Stage 3 – by the end of Year 3 of your membership, being assessed as meeting the requirements of “A-CAR BUSINESS PRACTICE and CONSUMER PROTECTION” compliance;

YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED AS AN I-CARE COMPLIANT CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLER IF YOU MEET (OR COMMIT TO MEETING) THE FIRST STAGE REQUIREMENT IN YEAR 1:
– THAT IS, YOU EVIDENCE COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS (I-CARE).

YOU WILL RETAIN YOUR CERTIFICATION IN YEAR 2 IF YOU MEET (OR COMMIT TO MEETING) THE SECOND STAGE REQUIREMENT IN YEAR 2:
– THAT IS, YOU EVIDENCE COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED WORKPLACE HEALTH and SAFETY STANDARDS.

YOU WILL RETAIN YOUR CERTIFICATION IN YEAR 3 (and AFTER) IF YOU MEET (OR COMMIT TO MEETING) THE THIRD STAGE REQUIREMENT IN YEAR 3:
– THAT IS, YOU EVIDENCE COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED BUSINESS PRACTICE and CONSUMER PROTECTION STANDARDS

AUSTRALIAN CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLER PROGRAM (A-CAR) COSTS

The annual cost of the program is $450 (ex GST).

This is made up of:

  • Costs of business signage;
  • Licencing costs including annual online self-audit;
  • Cost of Independent physical audit once in 3 years (auditor travel time and expenses may be an additional charge);
  • Program administration and marketing.

Independent physical audits take place at the end of Year 1 and then every third year.
